New Nintendo 3DS Sells Big During Launch Weekend

According to gaming website IGN, the latest editions of the Nintendo 3DS console are a hit in Japan as they flew off the shelves when they were released this past weekend. The site reports that an estimated 230,000 units of the consoles in just two days. That is an incredible 115,000 consoles a day, making it one of the best selling gaming console launches in history.

Between the two consoles, the 3DS XL was the better selling of the two consoles; that model sold over 175,000 units over its smaller counterpart which sold 61,000 units. There are a number of reasons expected for the bigger sales for the larger model. With smartphones such as the iPhone 6 receiving bigger screens than ever, it follows the growing trend among consumers that prefer a larger screen size.
